Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the iPhone app "Daily Brain 5" (the "app") handles and how it is used. The app is provided by foco apps ("we", "us"). If this English version and the Japanese version differ, the Japanese version prevails.
1. In short
- There is no account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts or photos.
- Your progress (levels, records, streak, settings) is stored on your device.
- Together with an anonymous ID created by the app, we send usage data, crash information and purchase information to the services listed in section 4.
- Usage data is not sent until you finish the consent step of the first-run guide. In regions where consent is required, it is sent only if you agree.
- Ads based on your interests (personalised ads) are shown only when you allow tracking on your iPhone and, where required, consent to them.
2. What we collect
| Information | Details | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous ID | A random ID the app creates on your device. It is not linked to your name or other identity. It is shared by analytics, crash reports and purchase management. The analytics service also creates its own per-app ID. | Usage statistics, crash investigation, purchase management |
| Usage data | App launches, screens viewed, progress through the first-run guide, the puzzles you play and their results (level, stars, time taken, hints used and similar), streak, puzzle unlocks, ads shown and rewards, paywall views and purchase actions, settings changes, share actions, opening the app from a reminder | Tuning puzzle difficulty and improving the app; reviewing the ad and purchase screens |
| Answers in the first-run guide (optional) | The age group (for example, 40s) and goals (for example, memory, spare moments) you chose. You can skip them. | Usage trends; care for younger users (section 6) |
| Device and environment | Device model, OS and app version, language, time zone, and country or region estimated from your IP address (nothing more precise than a city) | Statistics, delivering settings, investigating crashes and speed, serving ads |
| Crash and performance data | Crash logs (including the app state at the time), time taken to launch and to show puzzles | Fixing bugs, improving speed |
| Purchase information | Products bought, price and currency, purchase and renewal dates, free trial status. We never receive your payment method or card number (Apple handles payment). | Applying and restoring purchases, purchase statistics |
| Advertising information | Ads shown and your interactions with them. The advertising identifier is used only if you allow tracking on your iPhone. | Serving ads and measuring them, ad revenue statistics |
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device; no information is sent for them. Sharing uses the iPhone share sheet; the app does not receive who you share with or what you send.
3. Consent and your choices
- Usage data: not sent until the consent step of the first-run guide is finished. In regions where the law requires ad consent (such as the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), it is sent only if you consent to storing information on your device and to measurement.
- Crash and performance data: in regions where consent is required, the same as usage data. Elsewhere, sent after the consent step is finished.
- Ads: in regions where consent is required, a consent form is shown first. On iPhone, you may be asked whether to allow tracking. Every feature works if you say no; you then see ads that are not based on your interests.
- Changing your choices: change ad consent at any time in the app under Settings → Ad privacy settings. Change tracking in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Deleting data on the device: Settings → Delete all data on this device removes your progress and settings from the device. The app then switches to a new anonymous ID, and the old ID is no longer connected to your device. Subscriptions and the ad removal stay with your Apple ID and come back with Restore purchases.
4. Who receives information
We use the following service providers for the purposes above. We do not sell your information.
| Provider | Services and role | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC | Firebase (Google Analytics: analytics; Crashlytics: crash reports; Performance Monitoring: speed; Remote Config: settings and experiments), Google AdMob (ads and the consent form), Google Cloud (storing and analysing analytics data) | Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Purchase management (which purchases are active, restoring) | RevenueCat Privacy Policy |
| Apple Inc. | App Store purchases and payment, app distribution | Apple Privacy Policy |
These are US companies, and information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. We use them after confirming that they take measures to protect personal information. We do not give information to any other third party except where required by law.
5. How long we keep it
- Data on your device: until you delete the app or use Delete all data on this device.
- Usage data: 14 months. Aggregated figures that cannot identify anyone may be kept longer.
- Crash reports: the Crashlytics retention period (90 days).
- Purchase information: as long as needed to manage purchases and to keep records required by law.
6. Children and younger users
The app is not directed at children under 13. In regions where ad consent is required, if you choose "under 20" as your age group in the first-run guide, usage data is not sent and only limited, age-appropriate ads are shown.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information or the EU General Data Protection Regulation), you may ask to access, correct or delete your information, or to stop its use. Please contact us at the address below. Because we do not hold names or email addresses, we may ask you to follow steps that let us find which information is yours, and we may be unable to act if we cannot. You can always delete the information on your device with Delete all data on this device. If you live in the European Economic Area or the UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections, and the app is designed not to send information that directly identifies you, such as your name. Access to analytics data is limited to us.
9. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update this page and the date above. We announce significant changes in the app as well.
